Unusual Breast Malignancy: Correlation of MRI Findings with Pathologic Features
نویسندگان
چکیده
Most breast malignancies arise from epithelial elements and are categorized as carcinomas. IDC not otherwise specified (NOS) and ductal carcinoma in situ are common breast cancers and account for about 85% of breast cancers (1). Unusual breast malignancies may be broadly divided into ILC, well-differentiated subtypes of IDC, cancers of stromal origin, and metastatic neoplasms (2). Well-differentiated subtypes of IDC include mucinous carcinoma, tubular carcinoma, medullary carcinoma, papillary carcinoma, micropapillary carcinoma, apocrine carcinoma and metaplastic carcinoma (Table 1). However, we are not familiar to these unusual breast malignancies, and hesitate to interpret MRI findings of these tumors and correlate with pathologic features. In this article, we will provide an overview of unusual, as well as a few rare, malignant breast neoplasms and correlate multimodal breast imaging including MRI of these tumors with pathologic features.

A Rare Case of Invasive Apocrine Carcinoma of the Breast with Unusual Radiologic Findings
Invasive apocrine carcinoma (IAC) of the breast is a rare subtype of breast malignancy. Its incidence is not well known, but it is approximately less than 1% to 4%. For these reasons, there are few reports and little information on the radiologic appearance of IAC. Furthermore, most of the case reports show malignant features which are similar to invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC). We present a ra...

Background: Estrogen-negative breast cancers have different clinical course, prognostic features and treatment response in comparison to estrogen receptor-positive (ER-positive) breast cancers. Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) oncoprotein has found to have a pivotal role in natural cell growth and cell division and is suggested to be directly related to tumor invasiveness in brea...

ABSTRACTWe are reporting a 43-year-old female breast cancer case with a solitary metastatic adenocarcinoma in clivus. This patient with a stage II (T1N1M0) breast cancer history has been followed for 7 years. Modified Radical Mastectomy (MRM) and 6 courses chemotherapy with CMF (Cyclophosphamide, Metotrexate, 5FU) regimen were done for her at the time of diagnosis. Also, she took tamoxifen tw...
متن کاملExtramammary findings on breast MRI: prevalence and imaging characteristics favoring malignancy detection: a retrospective analysis.
BACKGROUND Little study of the extramammary finding of breast MRIs has been done with only descriptive work of the prevalence of location and malignancy. The purpose of the present study was to assess the prevalence, the location, and the imaging characteristics of the incidentally detected extramammary findings on breast MRI and to determine potential malignant characteristics. METHODS The s...

Background and Objectives: The most prevalent malignancy among women is known to be breast cancer (BC). Several factors contribute to determining tumor prognosis and treatment strategies. In this study, the frequency and relevance of these factors are discussed. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out on 214 patients with BC, who referred to the Cancer Institute of...
